Online Scholarship Application FAQs
October 30, 2009

Q: Am I required to fill out the scholarship applications online?

A: Yes. Pi Beta Phi Foundation is continuously looking to improve and meet the needs of our members. Online applications allow applicants to easily enter information, track and confirm the application status, and save money on printing and postage needs.

Q: Is my information secure?

A: We understand that you will be providing sensitive information. Our vendor partner, Scholar Select, uses SSL encryption and their site is secured by digicert ®, an industry leader in Web site security. Your information comes to Pi Beta Phi Foundation only; no other third party has access to your information, except by court order.   For more information about ScholarSelect’s privacy policy, please visit their Web site at www.scholarselect.com; for more information about the Foundation’s privacy policy click here.

Q: What are the requirements to be eligible to receive a Foundation Scholarship?

A: The Foundation is pleased to offer undergraduate scholarships, graduate fellowships, Alumnae Continuing Education (ACE) scholarships and Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts scholarships. Each application has differing qualifications, and we encourage you to read the Description and Requirements before beginning any scholarship application. Simply click on the links provided to learn more about the scholarships.

Q: I’m having technical difficulties. Whom should I contact?

A: We recommend you first check your computer and internet connection for any faults or errors. ScholarSelect has a help feature which you may access from their Web site to help you trouble shoot any specific problems or error messages you are receiving. If you continue to have problems, please contact the Foundation and we will do our best to resolve the issue.

Q: My recommendation/community service verification form has not been received by the person who is making a recommendation on my behalf.

A: First, have this person check any spam or junk mail folders. Next, you can log back in your application and check to ensure you have entered the email address correctly. You will also have the option to resend the request from that page.

Q: I already submitted my application, but I have other information I want to change or add.
You can amend and resubmit any application prior to 11:59 p.m. PST on February 15, 2010. Simply login to www.scholarselect.com with your username and password to view and update your application. Be sure to save and submit any changes you make.

Q: How do I know my application, recommendations or community service verifications have been received?

A: The online process will provide you several steps along the way to ensure your application, including recommendations or community service verifications, has been received. You will receive an email confirming a request for a recommendation or community service verification has been sent. You will receive another email when that person successfully submits his/her recommendation or verification. Finally, you will receive an email confirmation when you submit your completed application to the Foundation.

Q: What if the people I’ve asked for recommendations or verifications from have not responded?

A: It is your responsibility to allow yourself enough time to ensure you can collect all the recommendations and verifications you need to submit a completed application. We recommend you start early, send your contact an email or call them to let them know they will be receiving an emailed request for a recommendation or verification from Pi Beta Phi Foundation and check your application status periodically to ensure they have provided your recommendation or community service verification. If you have allowed enough time, you can always provide additional names/emails to provide the necessary recommendations and verifications.   The Foundation cannot assist with getting your recommendations or community service verifications, and your application will be disqualified if you do not have all the required recommendations and verifications.
